School Cycling Mission Statement October 31, 2003
The Cyclefit Cycling Club’s U23 (School Cycling Program) was designed to promote the sport of cycling and develop the youth of our community into healthy, productive and respectful citizens.
Our purpose is:
- To raise young cyclists to their greatest potential, with goals not exceeding participation at the highest levels in each of cycling’s many disciplines.
- To provide opportunity, coaching, financial support and adult guidance and assistance for all youth who wish to experience the challenges of cycling.
- To educate our youth about physical health, proper diet and a wholesome lifestyle.
- To reinforce, through sportsmanship, the value of conducting yourself with accountability, honor, integrity and respect.
- To expand the general knowledge of the sport of cycling in the State of Michigan.
- To offer friendship, camaraderie and a channel of communication through the barrier of age by means of common interest.
- To give children, young adults and the young at heart a chance to express their individuality and “joie de vivre”.
- To discover identity, fulfill emotional needs and to find happiness through cycling.
